John Villar, A Bitcoin & Counterparty Legend
I woke up this morning and as usual, first thing I do is grab my phone and check crypto prices and all the different Counterparty telegram chats.
Counterparty has been hot lately, there has been a lot of renewed interest in the greatest crypto project ever to exist. I'm highly biased though.
Bringing most this renewed attention to Counterparty is RarePepe, the first ever community generated collection of NFTs. Not just any NFTs, the most secure NFTs in the world, they live inside Bitcoin itself. HOMERPEPE, the famous RarePepe sold for $300,000+ recently.
At 8:10, I say in the Official Counterparty Chat, "Wonder this also. People are going to find gems in 5 years and be loaded in Venezuela." I was referring to RarePepes and the increasing value in the future. I referred to Venezuela because that is where John Villar lives.
At exactly 8:10, someone else said something. A person who was speaking Spanish and I've never seen before. 2 minutes later, she reports John Villar has died of cardiac arrest.
For those of you who did not know John Villar, he was a person who cared very much about humanity and community and very much loved his family.
I personally have had the pleasure to know John Villar for over 3 or 4 years. He wasn't just a friend, but a person I truly believed was going to change the world for the better.
John Villar was the lead developer for Counterparty and the level of geniuses and ingenuity of his Bitcoin and software designs was like nothing I've ever seen. In my mind, he is the greatest Bitcoin developer on the planet. I wouldn't have traded John for anyone.
John was just different. John could of went and made millions launching a new hot ICO, but he didn't, he worked on Counterparty. Little old Counterparty that everyone calls dead was spitting out new innovation after new innovation developed by John Villar.
John didn't care if he received little attention or notoriety. He knew what he was doing was important and that's all that mattered to him.
Today in my opinion is the saddest day in crypto history. We truly lost a Bitcoin legend.
Most people are replaceable, but John Villar is not. The future of crypto will never be the same without John here any longer.
Today's a very sad day for everyone who knew John. I'm sorry to his family and friends. I personally only knew John from Counterparty, and I was lucky enough to have the chance to admire him for so long.
John may be gone, but he will never be forgotten. Counterparty will continue to keep going I believe, that is what John would want. Counterparty will never be as good as it could of been with John and JDog at the helm, that is the sad truth.
Below is a card I made for John a few months ago. I showed him this card and he said it was cool, but he has since lost a bunch of weight. He told me he loved it and use it anyway. I told him I would make him a new card.
John will have a new card when the Counterparty Legends set is released, but in the meantime, this card will be used to raise funds for John's family. You can buy as little as $0.41 cents worth for 0.01 VILLAR NFT cards.
All funds sent to this dispenser address will be donated directly to John's immediate family.
John invented dispensers. If you don't know about dispensers, learn more here: https://www.xprotectx.com/post/bitcoin-dispensers-on-counterparty

Today is a sad day for Counterparty and most of all, John's family and friends. My condolences to all of you.
